Dr Lee graduated in medicine from the University of Sydney with first class honours in 1995, and received his fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2004. He was awarded his PhD in 2010 for studies into the pathogenesis of tubulointerstitial injury in chronic kidney disease.

Dr Lee is a renal physician at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals and is Subdean (Medicine) of the Western Clinical School, Sydney Medical School of the University of Sydney. He is a visiting medical officer and Medical Director of Dialysis in Norwest Private Hospital. He has experience in the management of chronic kidney disease, dialysis and transplantation, hypertension and pregnancy-related renal disorders. He has numerous publications in clinical and experimental renal disease, dialysis and transplantation.
