Marita has a postgraduate certificate in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation and Continence. She specialises in pelvic floor physiotherapy assessment and management in women who have vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence, bowel dysfunction and constipation, chronic pelvic pain and dyspareunia, and pelvic floor weakness/perineal tears post vaginal delivery.
She is passionate about providing women with the correct pelvic floor advice following delivery. A postnatal pelvic flood assessment is recommended following delivery. This provides women with the information needed to ensure an optimal recovery and return to exercise safely.
She uses real-time ultrasound to provide patients with feedback on pelvic floor and lower abdominal muscle activation patterns. This ensures that women know how to structure their exercise routines to ensure that what they do is safe for their pelvic floor.
Marita has a strong background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and is experienced in treating pregnancy-related pelvic pain, lower back pain and sacroiliac joint instability.
