A/Prof Carsten Palme is an Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgeon and Senior Clinical Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Sydney. A/Prof Palme holds clinical appointments at Westmead Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. A/Prof Palme is a Visiting Medical Officer at Westmead Private Hospital, Macquarie Private Hospital and Norwest Private Hospital.

After attending medical school at the University of Sydney A/Prof Palme completed four years of advanced training in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and obtained his Fellowship of the royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.

A/Prof Palme completed post-training fellowships in the American Head and Neck Society, Head and Neck Oncology Program, University of Toronoto, Canada, and in Laser Head and Neck Surgery, University of Gottingen, Germany.

A/Prof Palme is the inaugural recipient in 2009 of the Chris O'Brien Travelling Fellowship Award of the American Head and Neck Society. In 2011 A/Prof Palme was awarded the Coman Kennedy Laser Scholarship and in 2012 A/Prof Palme was included in the "Best Doctors" Australian and New Zealand database.

A/Prof Palme's clinical interests include adult and paediatric ear, nose and throat disorders, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, voice and laser surgery, salivary gland disorders and head and neck cancer.
